SLIbis - for converting IBIS models into Spice equivalent models

SLIbis allows for fast import of IBIS models and for accurate conversion into Spice equivalent models. Furthermore, it is easy to administrate due to our built-in ASCII database.

SLIbis can be used as stand-alone tool or in combination with either PCBMod or CableMod for including IBIS models in efficient SI and EMC simulations of PCB and cable harness systems.

Why is SLIbis so valuable to you?

  • Easy to use
  • Automatic conversion of IBIS models into Spice equivalent models
  • Automatic syntax check of IBIS files
  • Editor allowing changes directly within the IBIS file
  • Generation of highly accurate two-waveform models
  • Support of models for arbitrary bit sequences
  • Automatic filing into an ASCII database
  • Sorting possible of signal pins, signals, or models
  • Special functionality for slow and fast driver characteristics
  • Direct validity check of generated Spice models

IBIS stands for I/O Buffer Information Specification and is an ASCII data format standard used by many IC component manufacturers. SLIbis allows you to read those IBIS models into PCBMod or CableMod with a matter of one mouse-click.

The models will typically contain:

  • Characteristic curves for pull-up and pull-down
  • Clamping behaviour
  • Different driver characteristics (min, typ, max)
  • Falling and rising waveforms at different loading conditions

To administrate and organise those IBIS models, SimLab has implemented an ASCII database with various sorting capabilities. This is a great help in order to store new models respectively to find easily the models needed in PCBMod or CableMod.

Before converting the IBIS model into an Spice equivalent model a syntax check can be performed to ensure the conformity of the model with the IBIS conventions. An editor enables syntax changes directly within the IBIS file.

One of the outstanding features is the possibility to generate two-waveform models to describe the behaviour at two different loading conditions. Our intuitive user interface includes various view and display options, e.g. static and dynamic curves.
